Be The Change This World Needs!
While many dismiss climate change as being a future problem...it is very real, it is happening now, and human activities have been the main driver. Among top pollution contributors...food waste is the third largest greenhouse gas emitter, but also the most easily solvable.
Food waste in America is:
Excessive -40% of all food produced in America is wasted. -52.4 million tons of food waste is sent to landfills annually. -24.1% of landfill trash is food waste.
Expensive -Annual cost of food waste is $218 billion or 1.3% of U.S. GDP. -Annual cost of food waste per American Family is $1,600.
Harmful -Food waste is the 3rd largest greenhouse gas emitter. -The methane that is release is 25x more harmful than CO2. -Food waste greenhouse gas emissions in America is equivalent to 37 million cars.
Both the EPA and USDA have set goals to reduce the amount of food waste going to landfills by 50% by the year 2030. While 5 states (CA, CT, MA, RI, and VT) and 6 municipalities (Austin TX, Boulder CO, NY NY, SF CA, and Seattle WA) have already implemented organic waste bans, mandatory recycling laws, and laws that restrict food waste going to landfills completely...none have a sustainable food waste solution in place.
South Hill Compost is seeking to raise $1,000 to kick-start efforts to launch a food waste recycling center in Cortland County, NY that will deploy an in-vessel composting solution.
This food waste processing solution is proven to be FASTER, CLEANER, SAFER, and ODORLESS in comparison to all other food waste processing methodologies available today.
We can no longer ignore the consequences of food waste and South Hill Compost is asking for your help to mitigate its negative economic, environmental, and health impacts to Americans.
Your donation will make a difference today, tomorrow, and into the future.
Thank you!
